Deciding On The Perfect Travel Trailer

A Maze of Options

We have finally decided on a travel trailer over an RV. Now, it’s a question of which brand, which model, what size, and all the rest. The options seem endless when it comes to selecting a trailer. If you read my previous article regarding our encounter with the RV/travel trailer salesman, you know full well why we’ve selected a trailer over an RV. I strongly encourage you to read that article if you’re contemplating between an RV and a tow-able alternative.

Now that we’ve elected to go with a travel trailer, it’s a question of narrowing down the options. When it comes to selecting a trailer the first question seems to be “what size?” It’s a tough question to answer. I’m narrowing this down by looking at the campgrounds and locations that we intend to visit. I know we’ll do a bit of boon-docking as well, so we will need something that’s large enough, and resourceful enough, to handle our needs.

Deciding On The Perfect Travel Trailer - Which travel trailer is best for me?

We essentially need a home on wheels, small and capable of fitting into our favorite campgrounds, yet large enough to live in for months out of the year, work from comfortably, and all the rest.

Upon initial glance, it’s looking like we’ll settle in the range of a 20-24 footer. The larger you go, the more it weighs. And the more it weights, the more we’ll have to dump into a tow vehicle.

Stay tuned… this is going to get interesting..
